Design Philosophy
The Residence, design philosophy as evolved by Deepika Govind is all about balance of Colour, Form, Proportion, and play of Light. It’s about juxtaposing the Old and the New, about using original artworks to create a soulful aesthetic. Layering and texturing, achieved with varied crafted materials and techniques, create an aura of depth and unveiling mystery. And while all design elements adhere to classic styles, the unexpected twist here or the surprise detailing there affords a delightful departure.
Colours like Sisal Matt, Honey Mustard, Mid Cream and Sweet Corn are the dominant colour schemes, adding character and warmth to the rooms. Colour gradations on the walls are a unique feature, giving it a sense of luminosity and dimension. Weange teak wood-finished furniture lends the interiors a contemporary yet individualistic look. The high beds and headboards in natural wood, heavy silk jacquard duvets, the Japanese-inspired embroidery enhancing the chequered silken drapes, creates ripples of royalty and luxury. Contemporary yet ornate, opulent yet in a strange way, austere. Modernity mingling with pieces from another time.
